CLBDI Advocacy Letter Template

We recently got together with our advisory board to draft a letter that sheds light on the many issues facing dementia patients, families, and carers in Ontario and across our country. The intention was to make this available to everyone so that anyone who is interested can start the conversation about the current state of dementia care and what is likely to be coming shortly.

Click the link below to read it and get the plain text version, the Word document, and the PDF of the letter. Use it as is or edit it and make it your own.

CLBDI Advocacy Letter 2024.

Did you use our letter template? Have you been in contact with local, provincial, and federal politicians and want to share some insight into the conversation? Send us an email ([email protected]) and let us know.

Hello, Lewy Warriors! The "CLBDI Talks" interview series is a collection of short videos where we sit down for a chat with various medical professionals, care partners, community members, and other Lewy Warriors to talk about Lewy Body Dementia, caring for your Loved One, and more

Cognitive neurologist Dr. Stephen Pasternak joins us again to discuss Lewy Body Dementia, the power of proactivity, the importance of finding support, and the dangers of caretaker burnout. In this episode, we discuss some of his recent Lewy Body Dementia research trials, the surprising and hopeful new research opportunities stemming from the potential overlap of the neuropathologies of LBD and Alzheimer’s, and how, with enough support, this could lead to a better understanding of the disease and possible treatments.

Following the tragic passing of actor Gene Hackman, Dr. Pasternak reaffirms the importance of having a proper support system and the dangers of isolating yourself as a caretaker. We also discuss the benefits of building a community, breaking down the stigma around dementia and dementia care, the power of proactivity and planning, and the importance of dementia advocacy. With the rising number of dementia cases in Canada, it’s crucial to understand that you’re not alone as a carer and how important it is to start planning early.
