May 2025 - Loonie Loops 2025, a new donation total is on the way, "CLBDI Talks" with Norma Loeb, and more...

Good afternoon, Lewy Warriors!

Another month has come to an end, and we’ve got some excellent and exciting updates to share. Firstly, we’ll be getting an updated donation total in July from our liaisons at the University of Western Ontario. We’re excited to see how far we can reach past our previous goal of $100,000! If you’d like to make a donation to Lewy Body Dementia research in Ontario and help us reach our goals, visit the website for all sorts of information on how to donate online, by mail, or over the phone. Thank you to everyone who has donated their time, energy, or interest to our cause. We appreciate you more than you know, and together we're making a difference here in our province that has the potential to extend across the globe.

In only a few days, we’ll be releasing the newest episode of our “CLBDI Talks” interview series! This month, we sat down with the amazing Norma Loeb, Founder and Executive Director of the Lewy Body Dementia Resource Center! We had an amazing discussion on her journey as a carer and with the LBDRC, what she is most proud of, and so much more. We wanted to thank her for taking the time to chat with us. We’re so excited for everyone to tune in. Visit the CLBDI YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@canadianlbdinfo) to watch all our previous episodes for free today!

Coming later this month is the first Loonie Loops fundraising and advocacy walk of 2025! On Saturday, June 28th, we will be walking the Uptown Loop trails in Uptown Waterloo to raise funds and awareness for Lewy Body Dementia. Following the walk, there will be a sit-down networking and discussion community event with hot drinks provided by a wonderful local café. We will also be raffling off some sweet CLBDI merchandise for everyone who joins the event. All are welcome, and fundraising is not necessary! Send us an email at [email protected] for information on the event and to RSVP so that you can attend the post-walk event. This also ensures that you will be entered into the raffle.

We’re also working on another CLBDI art event for later in this year and cannot wait to announce some of our other summer initiatives, including more community events, speaking engagements, the support group, and more. We’ve also been speaking with local MPs and MPPs in the hope of shining a light on CLBDI's mission and the state of dementia care in Ontario and Canada. Make sure to follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CanadianLBDInfo/) for more up-to-date announcements and LBD content from across the internet.

We hope everyone had a wonderful May, and we hope to see you out at the Loonie Loops walk!

Cheers,
Joe
