Hello Lewy Warriors!

Welcome to a new year! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and wish you all the best in 2025. January has already flown by and we have some updates for you!

In case you missed it, this past Tuesday, Jan. 28th was "World Lewy Body Dementia Day". Spearheaded by Lewy Body International, World Lewy Body Dementia Day is a day to push the conversation forward in regard to LBD patients, carers, and medical professionals. More than that, it is a call to action to educate and advocate for the people we love. Even though the day has come and gone, that doesn't mean that we have to stop our quest to start important conversations about dementia care with local, provincial, and federal movers and shakers. Visit the CLBDI Advocacy Letter 2024 page on our website to get your free Dementia Advocacy Letter Template and use it as a tool to begin the discussion about the future of dementia care in Canada with your MPs and MPPs. It's free to use and available in multiple formats. Make it your own or use it as is. We've made it as easy as possible to start these very important conversations.

In early January, we received word of our new donation total from the folks at the University of Western Ontario. We're happy to announce that we've raised $92,722.17 since starting this journey five years ago. Incredible! Some donations from this past holiday season and early 2025 have not yet been processed so the actual number is probably slightly higher than what we were given. With donations from Bob's Trust Fund and the money raised through the sales of the new CLBDI hats being sent in over the next few months, we're very optimistic for the summer. As always, we couldn't do it without the support of our amazing community so we wanted to thank everyone who has donated their time, energy, or funds to CLBDI's cause. We are so unbelievably grateful for all of you.

We're very excited to begin announcing more community events and content for you over the next few months. While the snow is on the ground, we're busy speaking with our advisory board and planning more visibility, community growth, and action in our region (and beyond) this year. You can expect more "Community Walk" events, "Loonie Loops", speaking events, community outreach, digital and physical support groups, and more to be announced as we get closer to the spring. Keep checking our Facebook to stay up to date on everything we've got cooking.

Lastly, our new CLBDI hats are here and they turned out AMAZING! They're well-made, stylish, and very warm. Half of all sales will go directly to Dr. Pasternak's LBD research in London. Crazier still? We've already sold more than half of our stock! So don't wait if you'd like to make an order. All information including pricing, where to order, and more are available on our Community page. Look good, feel great, and wear your care this winter!

That's all for today. We hope everyone has a fantastic February and we'll see you again in month.

Cheers,
Joe
